I hope everyone is enjoying their new books and purchases from the Scholastic Book Fair held at St. Luke Catholic School last week. Thank you to the many volunteers who came to help staff the sale and pack-up on Friday afternoon.
Many thanks also to helping fulfill some of the Teacher Wish Lists, and donate to the All for Books Program (the cash box at the cashier desk). With the almost $20 donated there, I was able to purchase 4 softcover books for the younger group for the ESD room, and donate a fiction book for the Jr. High.
The school did well, and will be buying some $700 worth of books from Scholastic for the library, and taking 10% cash for library supplies such as Mylar book covers and tape! Thanks again to all the volunteers. Helping run the fair smoothly enabled the students to enjoy the book fair. Keep reading!

Scholastic Book Fair November 12-16, 2012
The Wednesday Newsletter has been keeping us all updated with news of the upcoming Scholastic Book Fair, scheduled for November 12-16, 2012 here at St. Luke Catholic School. The Fair will be held in Room #12, the present Music Room, from 8:30a.m. until 4:00p.m., Monday through Friday of that one week. I want to extend a big 'thank you' to those 11 people who have thus far volunteered to help during the week. I do need to ask for additional help with running the fair (helping with students' selections, running the cash register, and straightening the shelves). I particularly will need more help on the following days and time slots:
Monday afternoon, November 12th from 1:30p.m. through 4:00p.m.
Tuesday afternoon, November 13th from 1:30p.m. through 4:00p.m.
Wednesday mid-day, November 14th from 11:30a.m. through 2:00p.m.
Thursday mid-day, November 15th, from 10:45a.m. though 1:15p.m. during the FAMILY EVENT
(Volunteers might be able to help before or after eating the
Thanksgiving Luncheon with their student(s))
Thursday afternoon, November 15th from 2:00p.m. through 4:00p.m.
and
Friday morning, mid-day, and afternoon, 9:00a.m. (after Mass) through 11:00a.m.,
11:00a.m. through 2:00p.m., and 1:30p.m. through 4:00p.m.
THE BOOK FAIR WILL NEED TO CLOSE AT 4:00p.m. on Friday,
November 16, 2012 in order to tally results and pack up the Fair.
As you can see, there are still many times available to help out with running the Book Fair.
If you cannot stay an entire time slot, that is fine. Just let me know by hand-written note, volunteer form (in the front office), or by my email at slcssawczyn@yahoo.com
Thank you very much. Every Reader Is A Star!

Welcome back to the Library Blog site!
The classes are circulating through the library each week, and selecting their individual interests in books to read. To help promote the students' reading, St. Luke Catholic School holds an annual book fair. The Scholastic Book Fair will once again be here at SLCS the week of November 12-16th, 2012.
There will be Picture books and Easy Readers, Elementary level books, Middle School level books and best-sellers, cookbooks, a Christian reading table, Newberry Award selections, and more! There will also be pencils and fancy pens, erasers, art kits, and gift selections.
A form will be sent home soon to sign up for volunteering at the Fair. I will be asking for volunteers to assist in the running of the Fair from Monday, November 12th, through Friday, November 16th, 2012. There will be volunteer sessions throughout the days from 8:00a.m. through 4:00p.m.
The book fair is always a fun time for the students, so mark your calendars. Look for more news to come!
